My New Found Love

Like the 101 List, I became a "member" of Pinterest a while back but had no idea what the point of it was or how to use it.  It wasn't until last week when a friend wanted to show me a picture of a cake she wants me to make for her daughters 1st birthday - she facebooked me and said to check her out on Pinterest, she commented on a picture so that I would know.  I messaged her back saying that I probably wasn't going to find it - but lo and behold, I found it.

Since then, I have been hooked.  I checked the main Pinterest page daily and look through to see if there is anything I can "pin".  I even bookmarked a Pin It thingy that I can just click it when I find something while surfing the net.

Anything on myself actually is a splurge, for example, I just clicked PAY NOW for a dress and it wasn't expensive, it was $40...but since kids came around, I have a hard time spending money on myself!
 
{2} Tell us about your first paying job. How old were you?
My first paying job, other than the odd babysitting jobs on weekends was I guess when I was 12 and started working at a local chip truck...it was actually pretty fun!
 
{3} Do you plan date nights and extras into a monthly/weekly budget?
Unfortunately NOPE...my budget basically consists of just making sure my bills, loans etc are getting paid before my next pay.  Any extra money is spent on whatever.
 
{4} Share one of your money saving tips with us.
OH LORD...can't help you there, but I will definetly be looking at what other people tell me.  I am horrible with money...okay, actually not that bad but it always feels like we live pay cheque to pay cheque but we still get things we want, we pay our bills so that counts for something.  I did however set up a savings account...I should start putting money into that soon...lol

Oooohhh...I have had this planned out since I started buying lottery tickets...the first thing I would do is build a house the way we want it...I don't care what it has but I want state of the art kitchen and a hot tub LOL...the rest, I could care less...I wouldn't quit working I don't think...I would take a break and maybe do something that I actually would enjoy doing, or even volunteer.  Hubby says he would buy all his "toys" - a new 4 wheeler, boat etc...obviously after the initial shock and the house plans were in process, pay off all our debt would be good too....would I share with family?  LOL - I guess, I would like to say NO, I'm keeping it all to myself but if the tables were turned, I would hope that I got a cut as well.  It also depends how much...we're talking winning 50 million then that is just too much for one family...but if I won only like 25,000 that wouldn't last too long!

Choices, Choices, Choices

I have two family wedding coming up this spring...and they are quickly approaching.  Yesterday I started looking online for some dresses.  I found one website which had affordable dresses and they had a wide variety...after looking through them all, I chose these three dresses...I haven't decided IF I will buy any of them, but right now, I am liking these (particularly Exhibit A):

I think I want to get Exhibit A for my sister's wedding in June...I am pretty sure I have my dress picked out for Lindsay's.  It will match her wedding (and maybe that is a big NO NO, if not, I can get it in tea) and it's more casual just the way her wedding is going to be...let me know what you think (it's the yellow one):

This Weekend...

-  I killed a pretty nasty spider in my living room

 - I attended a Bridal Shower for my cousin Lindsay...it was all decked out in white linens and lace, catered brunch from a local café and had lots of history and memorabilia

- I taught Sunday school


- I lost my voice and started a cold


- Became familiar with Pinterest and annoyed my sister and Hubby with all my "pinning"

- Ate chinese food


- Was sitting in the Walmart parking lot when it opened Saturday morning because I was bored


- Missed hitting a deer with my car...but hit a chipmunk (less damage, phew)


- Watched The Blind Side this morning at 4:00 am when I was up with Tanner

- Nearly froze all weekend because the temperature had dropped...well I guess it was right on for the season, but after last week of having it in the 20's, it was a shock to my system


- Rented The Muppets for Maddy

- Did laundry but didn't do much other house cleaning...

Friday Randoms

Today may be our last day of summer weather we have been having around here...but that's okay, at least I was off to enjoy it.

I don't have a spare weekend until the end of June...but that's okay cuz there is a lot of exciting things happening.

Next Friday, Josee and I are taking the kids to Carlingwood Mall to meet the Easter Bunny and have pics taken.

Maddy and I need a haircut...and this mama thinks she needs her blond highlights for summer and weddings!

I am doing a 1st Birthday Cake for Kenzie in May...I am always nervous about doing them but this time especially cuz it seems forever since I made a cake.

I joined Pinterest and I am getting the hang of it...I even have a PIN IT button in my bookmarks.

I need to get my butt in gear and get Maddy's flowergirl for my sister's wedding...we got the one for Lindsay - one down, one to go!

 

Tanner is ONE MONTH OLD

I cannot believe that my baby is already a month old.  Time sure is passing.  He is a pretty good baby...he sleeps a lot and rarely has his eyes open.  He has been a breastfed baby until recently when I have discovered that he is not getting enough in a sitting...he always wanted to eat, so I have switched him to formula but I am pumping and still giving him that throughout the day as well.  So far so good.

I would guess that he is about 13 lbs and still growing.  He is wearing 6 month old sleepers but still has a hard time fitting into some 0-3 month old outfits...bizarre.  He appears to have short legs...he wore an outfit yesterday that was 6-9 months,  the shirt fit but the pants were too long.  LOL!

We have two portable phones and two cell phones...not fancy Iphones or even Blackberry's...old school phones!

 
{2} Are you brand loyal? (Apple or Android or something else?)

Nope...our cell phone provider is Telus, that's about as "brand loyal" we are!

 
{3} Would you rather talk on the phone, text or email?

Depends who with...I prefer to do any business related things via email...me and texting don't really work and it's probably because of the ancient phone that I have to use the keypad cuz I don't have a keyboard.

 
{4} What do you think of Video chat? what do you use? (skype, facetime? google talk?)

I don't do any video chat...and I don't think I would ever...just cuz I don't really have any use for it...not now anyways!

I would say a tablet, if I had one! LOL.  My brother in law has one and it's pretty cool but I have no gadgets, unless you call our laptop one!

I would pick my laptop because I don't really have anything else...my laptop is my go-to...I check the weather, the news, Facebook, email - basically everything!

Lovely Weather

It's March 20th and the weather is SUPERB!  Yesterday we broke records and expected to again today...+26 in March...YIPPEE, I am not complaining.  I would be complaining if I was working but this is why I love maternity leave.  I can take the kiddies outside and soak up the sun ALL DAY!

With this weather, it makes people think of summer but don't go putting your clothes away just yet, some people say that we are still expected to get a snow storm yet...I say NO, not this far into March...or can we?  Saturday is suppose to be "colder" and down to like +6...yikes...after being spoiled all week, don't know if I will like that!

With this warmer weather coming so quickly, I am not prepared.  I need to get my butt in gear and get Maddy a whole new summer wardrobe...she has like 2 pairs of shorts and that's it.  She also needs new running shoes and crocs and sandals....oh my...I better get looking.

Hello Friday

It is so nice to be online again...thanks to Hubby for buying us a new laptop.  Here are some Friday Randoms:

This is what my Friday morning consisted of at 8:00 am this morning - my two bundles in bed cuddling with me before going downstairs:

We are still having pooping issues with Tanner...he went on Tuesday but nothing since...I got him some Bio Gaia drops that I hope will kick in soon like his buddy Landyn has.

We started to decorate for Easter...here is a craft that Maddy made the other day:

I may have a solution for my cupcake stand...hope it all works out!  I did find one online that would work...I could paint it and decorate with ribbon and it was only $29.00 so I go to checkout to find that they only ship to the States....CRAP...so I googled the exact name of the cupcake tree and put in Canada...and I found one...still $29.00 but with shipping, it was going to cost $69.00...what the hell!

Last night we had our first thunderstorm of the year...I don`t remember ever having one in March...

The weather this weekend and coming week is INSANELY NICE...I think tomorrow is the least warm being 18 degrees then the rest of the week is sunny and 23...not complaining!!

Tomorrow the `younger`ladies of our church is holding our Irish Tea...we did it last year and it was successful so we decided to do it again this year. 

I wish gas prices would go back down...like below $1.00. I say this because if I want to leave the house...the vehicle I have is the gas sucking F-150 and therefore, I am told that I have to keep gas in it....CRAP.  The problem though is, I have difficulties driving it, and I will likely NEVER venture into the city with it and the city obviously has cheaper gas than what we have around here.  

 

What We Have Been Up To...

I am finally back online...technically I never left but my computer got a virus and wouldn't let me into Blogger world so now I am connected to my ancient laptop...this is what we have been up to for the last 3 weeks:


Spending time with TWO kids and hubby at home - Hubby went back to work yesterday after taking 3 weeks holidays

Dealing with sore nipples and breastfeeding issues...not so much ISSUES persay...Tanner just seems to want to eat ALL THE TIME and then he gets gassy and is up a lot in the night time and just looks uncomfortable...

I started introducing him to formula but after about 4 bottles of formula, he now is not only gassy and uncomfortable, I think he's constipated too...GREAT!

I have been trying to figure out my schedule for the next 2-3 months...busy busy busy with bridal showers, stags and weddings

I have never googled so much in my life...especially regarding babies and gas issues!

Getting our income taxes done - or more less, bugging Butter to get our income taxes done!

Looking into getting rid of the desktop computer and buying a new laptop!  Anyone have any suggestions??

As I am writing this, I am trying to teach (or hope that he learns soon) Tanner to keep his soother IN his mouth...nothing is more annoying than having to keep sticking it back in...and I took a picture of him actually in an outfit and well, this ancient laptop doesn't even have a USB slot to upload the picture.  Nice!


I have been trying to figure out a way to display mini cupcakes AND a small cake for my sister's wedding.  Been looking for display stands, but they are rather expensive for cardboard.  I am envisioning about 5 tiers (enough to fit let's say around 200-300 mini cupcakes) with a small tier on top for the cake...here is my vision:

Much bigger though - but i want the top tier to be a small cake
