I HATE SHOPPING

It's very strange - when I was "younger", I thoroughly enjoyed going shopping...but as I got "older" (and perhaps wiser), I have come to the sad realization that I HATE SHOPPING.
I think it started once I had Maddy...the whole carting her in and out of the car, into stores, fitting the car seat in carts, trying to find bathrooms to change and feed her - my once quick shopping trips quickly turned into a whole day event.

This weekend, I went shopping...not once but TWICE.  Friday, I shipped Maddy off to my mom's so that my friend Jill and I could go shopping without Maddy running wild...bringing Tanner just seemed easier.

We went to a shopping area called the Ottawa Trainyards.  Nice area, lots of stores...the one problem - no, actually there are numerous problems - let me list them for you:

1 - There are lots of stores, except the ones that I want to go to aren't close enough that you could just park and walk...so it's constantly in and out of the car and driving around looking for parking spot.

2 - This particular Friday we went was like the grand opening of Marshalls, therefore it was complete chaos.

3 - There is only one actual sit down restaurant - Scores - there are other places like Subway, some deli and some pizza joint called 5 guys or something....

4 - With that one restaurant, we landed there and well there was a huge lineup and a waiting time...thankfully it was only like 10 - 15 mins but we quickly realized that it was just because it must have just been opening for the day

5 - There are so many "roads" and not enough stop signs. Sometimes I just sat there wondering if I had the right away or someone else...thankfully, there were no collisions.

By the time we were done shopping there, it was 2:30 pm and I still had to go to Walmart to return something.  I quickly decided we would go back to Quebec to "our" Walmart, at least I can go in and out pretty fast cuz I know that store - going to the Supercentre Walmart in Ottawa was just a big no-no!

To make matters even worse - the two things I went shopping for, I completely forgot.  I got so worked up about the traffic, the lines, the parking, the big box stores and the lost directions, that I totally forgot to get baby monitors and a birthday gift.

Saturday morning I packed up the kids and headed back down to the city...the monitors weren't necessary, but the birthday was that afternoon, so down to Toys R Us we went.  I was back by noon, thank god.

The rest of the weekend:  we celebrated Cameron's 2nd birthday...we watched Hubby play hockey...we waved palms, enjoyed a potluck lunch and sang my favorite song at church - you can view it here.
Birthday Boy Cam!!

Ohhh come on...our shopping adventure was FUN!!!! ;) Well...at least we laughed a lot. And you handled the lost directions, the lines, the traffic, and everything very well - better than I would have. I'm not a big shopper myself, but I had a good time shopping with you & Tanner!! :)

If I had have known you were going to the Trainyards, I would've met you at David's Bridal to see if they had the flowergirl dress for Maddy in the store!

So is a trip To Marshall's worth all the drawbacks? I agree, I seldom bother going to the train yards. I need new summer short, my old ones are falling off.

Wasn't that quite the most glorious church service? I had a blast...and ditched Reg for the road trip with my girlfriends!!!
